How it works
Charlesworth offers a full array of typesetting services, ranging from page designs created with conventional tools such as InDesign or Quark, to pages and content created with automated XML-based workflows. We tailor and fine-tune our services to match each customer's needs, both to increase efficiency and minimize cost. Because we offer a full menu of typesetting options, our clients can select individual services they need to improve their workflow or can work with us to create a comprehensive package of publishing services.

Options available are:

• Automated XML based typesetting using Charlesworth's proprietary software and processes
• Conventional typesetting
• Graphics services including scanning, annotation/labeling, re-labeling and re-drawing
• Electronic deliverables

Customers can choose to either work directly with the Charlesworth typesetting group, or take advantage of the full Project Management service available.

Automated XML based typesetting
We offer a unique, extraordinarily fast XML typesetting service that allows our clients to very efficiently create publications in a variety for formats. Our XML process begins when we use our proprietary software to style documents and process any graphics sent to us. We convert these files to XML according to specifications we've agreed on and then use other specialized software to create pages in a pre-specified format. Our processes help publishers save time and money by using our completely automated pagination option, called Charlesworth AutoProof.

Conventional Typesetting
Charlesworth has a full graphic design staff available to help with any conventional typesetting needs. Our designers are highly trained with applications such as InDesign, QuarkXPress and Arbortext Advanced Print Publisher and can create publications with the look and layout our clients want.

Graphics Services
Our graphics department offers a full range of graphic services. We help clients with time consuming tasks such as cropping, repairing, redrawing, annotating, labeling and re-labeling graphics to ensure consistent quality in final printed form. Charlesworth maintains an extensive database of images or images can be accepted directly from clients in digital format or scanned in-house from original prints. We also provide clients with expert advice on the preparation of files for print or electronic publishing.
