Incorporating the Beijing International Book Fair: September 2-9, 2009

The annual Charlesworth China tour was a great success once again this year. Five international publishers from very different backgrounds participated, attending numerous libraries such as Library of Chinese Academy of Science and National Library of China, as well as visiting the Beijing International Book Fair. The tour is designed to increase knowledge of Chinese publishing industry, library purchasing and developing mutual relationships, vital for doing business in China.

Miranda Walker, Manager, Journals Production for Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), summed up her experience of the tour:

Everything was wonderful! I learned so much about scholarly publishing in China and have gained a strong understanding of what Chinese librarians value and expect from Western publishers. Thanks to Maggie, Tao, and Lily, I also gained a new respect for Chinese culture.
